Aggravated Kidnapping
Kidnapping is the crime of knowingly and secretly confining an individual against their will. This can be achieved either through the use of force, or by deceiving, enticing, or otherwise convincing an individual to go to a place with the purpose of secretly confining them against their will. Aggravated kidnapping, however, occurs when a kidnapping is committed for the purpose of obtaining a ransom or when the kidnapper used a deadly weapon. The charge can also be applied in a few other, less common, circumstances.
