Earlier this month, an Urbana father was sentenced to spend 5 years in prison after being convicted of his 4th driving under the influence conviction. The father, Chad Lange, was unable to be placed on probation due to receiving the three previous convictions within 9 years.
Champaign County Judge Rich Klaus said to the 33-year old father, “If you take the DUIs out of the equation, you are a productive member of society.
Lange was charged with the most recent DUI after backing his vehicle into an off-duty Urbana police officer on Broadway Avenue. The officer followed the dad, and despite there being no damage to either vehicle, arrested him and charged him with driving under the influence.
