A credit union on West John Street was robbed around 10:20 a.m. this morning in Champaign.
The theft occurred at the Central Illinois Credit Union when two masked males entered the building. One of the men flashed a handgun, and ordered four employees, and one customer to lay on the ground. The men exited the building with an unknown amount of money, and no one was injured.
Two high schools near the area of the robbery were placed on ‘soft lockdowns.’ These lockdowns were removed shortly after the incident took place. This is the third robbery in the Champaign area in less than seven days.
